According to Forbes, for the fourth film, “Pirates of the Caribbean: Sailing in Stranger Waters”, Johnny Deppreceived almost 55 million dollars from the producers. When it comes to the fifth movie in the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge, Johnny was paid around $90 million.

During an interview with Vanity Fair in 2011, the actor said that he believed he had been overpaid. He said, “Basically, if they’re going to pay me a stupid sum of money, I’ll take it.”

Johnny Depp further added: “I have to do it. I mean, it’s not for me. You know what I mean? At this point, it’s for my kids. It’s ridiculous, yes, yes. But ultimately, is it for me? No. No. It’s for the kids.”
