Gal Gadot: 10 Facts You May Not Know about her

The actress entered the army at the age of 20 after trying her luck as a model

Gal Gadot is about to officially release her most recent film production, Wonder Woman 1984, a sequel to Wonder Woman, a film that led her to touch the horns of the moon.

Although her fame has increased in recent years, the actress of Israeli origin has an extensive curriculum both in modeling, in the cinema, and even in the sports world.

Unlike other celebrities, the 35-year-old Gadot keeps her life low-key, standing out in the industry mainly for her talent, charisma, and beauty.

Gal Gadot was born in Petah, Israel.

He grew up in the city of Rosh HaAyin, in a quiet neighborhood where she asked for playdates with her friends in the afternoons.

Meaning of her name name

In Hebrew, her first name means ‘wave’ while her last name means ‘banks’.

She started her career as a model in Israel

In 2004, Gal Gadot was named Miss Israel at the age of 18.

Her mother entered her into the pageant after she finished high school and before she entered the military, she told W Magazine 2017.

During an interview with Glamor magazine, Gadot revealed that she did not want to win the pageant because she was afraid of the responsibility of being Miss Israel, for which she tried to rebel and go against the rules of the pageant.

“When I went to Miss Universe, I rebelled. I was afraid that I would be chosen again,” she said.

“I was late. I came without robes. They tell you to come to breakfast in a robe. I thought, ‘There’s no way I’m going to breakfast in a robe!’ Who needs to wear an evening dress at 10:30 am?

Before becoming an actress, she went to law school.

In the interview with Glamor, she said that her plans were focused on being a lawyer and that her dream was never to be an actress or to venture into the world of modeling. She even said that she had chosen law because Ally McBeal, the protagonist of the American series with the same name, had inspired her to do so.

At age 20, she enlisted in the military.

She began her mandatory two years in the Israel Defense Services as a combat instructor during the Israel-Hezbollah War in 2006.

“I was never in the field doing anything dangerous or with weapons. I was in the gym training soldiers and keeping them fit. I did it for two years. I learned how to use a gun in boot camp. But I’ve never been in a situation where I had to use one,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald.

During her service, she met her husband

She met Yaron Varsano, a real estate developer 10 years her senior at a chakra and yoga retreat. After finishing her service, she married him in 2008.

After the first year of school, she got an audition

Gal got an audition for the role of Bond girl Camille Montes in Quantum of Solace, however, she lost the chance to act opposite another Israeli actress.

She made her debut in 2007 starring in the Israeli series Bubot.

Fast and Furious

Months after being rejected from Bond, Gadot got an audition to play Gisele in the fourth installment of Fast and Furious. Her talent and history with the military and her dealings with weapons led her to land the part.

Her boom in Hollywood

After Fast and Furious, Gal began to have more prominent roles in Entourage, CW’s The Beautiful Life: TBL, Knight & Day, and Date Night.

Together with her husband, she opened a hotel in Tel Aviv.

Together they opened The Varsano in Israel, after setting it on a path to success and seeking other opportunities to grow personally and professionally, they sold the hotel to billionaire Roman Abramovich for $26 million.

I didn’t know I was going to play Wonder Woman.

The star was called in to audition for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, however, she had no idea the producer was considering her to play the Amazon.

Without the role of WW, she would have retired from acting permanently.

During training, she had to learn capoeira, Kung Fu, kickboxing, fencing, and Brazilian jiu-jitsu.

In an interview with Live With Kelly And Ryan, she admitted that it was more complicated than her training in the army, with more than six months of preparation before the first recordings and six hours a day of gym, fight choreography, and hours of horseback riding.
