Dr. Jordan B. Peterson, an expert Canadian psychologist, criticized the social network Twitter, which suspended his account for referring to Elliot Page as a woman, a “trans” who identifies as a man and who previously went by the name of Ellen Page. Page, 35, has starred in the 2007 film Juno and 2010’s Inception. He has also participated in three of the films in the X-Men saga. In 2021, Elliot Page came out as transgender and in May of that year, she was shown in a photograph bare-chested with her breasts removed.

In a video published by The Daily Wire on July 1, the specialist denounced Twitter’s censorship of a tweet of his from June 22 of this year, saying that “the suspension will not be lifted unless I delete the ‘hateful tweet.’ in question, but I would rather die than do that .” Dr. Peterson’s tweet, framed in the “celebration” of gay “pride” in June, reads: “Remember when pride was a sin? And Ellen Page has lost her breasts to a criminal doctor.”

Peterson indicated that he was suspended or censored for “violating” the rules of Twitter, which told him that “you cannot promote violence, threats or harassment against people based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, the identity of gender, religious affiliation, age, disability, or serious illness.” “By pressing delete you acknowledge that you have violated the rules,” Twitter added in its response.

Peterson explained that “clearly I have not promoted violence or threats against anyone”, and denounced that “ Twitter did not do me the favor of specifying my crime and unfortunately I have to guess what has happened”. “I should know, at least, what exactly I did wrong if I am also asked to admit it,” he added. About his tweet, Dr. Peterson recalled that pride is a capital sin, something that ” authoritarian moralists woke up seem unwilling to accept, and now ask to celebrate pride, not for an hour, or a day, or a week, but a month”.

The word woke, which can be translated from English to Spanish as “awake”, began to be used in the United States as a reference to awareness of racism. Little by little it spread to other fields such as social inequality from the perspective of the left, gender ideology, the LGBT lobby, and radical feminism. Gender ideology is a current that considers that sex is not a biological reality but a sociocultural construction, something that different governments try to impose through the education of children and young people. This ideology, condemned on different occasions by Pope Francis, is promoted more strongly in June, which the gay or LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) lobby calls “pride month”.

In his video, Dr. Peterson pointed out that “pride” is not a virtue and “I don’t think sexual orientation or sexual desire of any kind should be a source of pride or celebration, so what I said was just a done”. The expert also stressed that he considers it his “ duty to warn those who are about to fall into a pit and that the path they are about to take leads down, but that was probably not the reason why I was censored on Twitter although, as I said, I am in the position of having to guess.” Dr. Jordan B. Peterson is a clinical psychologist, critical of political correctness (the rules according to which no speech can offend any specific group), and has been a professor of psychology at Harvard University and the University of Toronto.

His areas of study are psychopathology, and social and personality psychology, with an interest in the psychology of religious and ideological beliefs. He is the author of the books “Maps of Meaning: The Architecture of Belief” in 1999 and “12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos” in 2018.
