Stephanie Abrams is an American television meteorologist, currently working for The Weather Channel (TWC), where she co-hosts AMHQ with Jennifer Carfagno and Jim Cantore from 6:00 to 9:00 Eastern Standard Time on weekdays.

STEPHANIE ABRAMS EDUCATION

Abrams, a graduate of Space Camp, Stephanie Abrams graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BS) in geography, minoring in mathematics, from the University of Florida at Gainesville, graduating with honours and elected Phi Beta Kappa. Abrams was a member of the Delta Phi Epsilon fraternity, where she served as chapter president.

Her second degree was a BS in Meteorology from Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee, where she graduated with honours. At FSU, Abrams practised live forecasting on FSU Live, a student-run news and weather production on a cable channel in Tallahassee.

Abrams worked as a teaching assistant at FSU, teaching a course in meteorology. She is a member of the National Weather Association (NWA) and the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and was president of the North Florida Section of the AMS from 2002 to 2003. She has the AMS seal of approval.

STEPHANIE ABRAMS CAREER

Her first position was as a morning meteorologist at WTXL, the ABC affiliate in Tallahassee, Florida. In July 2003, she began working on the air for The Weather Channel. At The Weather Channel, Abrams served as a journalist and substitute from 2003 to 2005.

In 2005, Abrams joined her first show, Weekend View, as a co-host. In 2006, she became a meteorologist on camera as a co-host of Abrams and Bettes: Beyond the Forecast and then moved on to the Weather Center, also with co-host Mike Bettes.

On July 20, 2009, Abrams began co-hosting Wake Up With Al with NBC’s Al Roker on weekday mornings from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. ET, which concluded in the fall of 2015.

Stephanie Abrams occasionally joined Sam Champion on AMHQ from 7-10 during that time hosting Wake Up With Al. During the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Abrams reported live from Vancouver February 8-28, 2010, featuring Al Roker for Wake Up With Al and AMHQ.

She had replaced Roker when she was on vacation, live from the Rockefeller Center network studios in New York City. In 2012, Abrams was the tentative anchor on the weather during Weekend Today when Bill Karins and Janice Huff left until Dylan Dreyer arrived.

She previously co-hosted The Weather Channel’s programs On The Radar from 2012-2013 and Morning Rush (formerly Your Weather Today) weekdays from 2009-2014. Abrams co-hosted Wake Up With Al until its conclusion in the fall of 2015. Now she is a co-host of America’s Morning Headquarters and has also occasionally filled in Roker on Today.

In 2014, she appeared as herself in Sharknado 2: The Second One. In 2015, she co-anchored ‘Wake Up With Al’ with Al Roker, but was cancelled the same year and she Abrams returned to the Weather Channel studios in Atlanta.
