But as an actor, Ifans is best known for his roles in Notting Hill (1999), Kevin & Perry Go Large (2000) and Enduring Love (2004), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (2010), and he played a supervillain in The Amazing Spider-Man (2012) and Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). He is the son of Beti-Wyn and Eurwyn Evans who is a school teacher. Ifans grew up in Ruthin, where he joined Ysgol Pentrecelyn and did his primary education, and learned the Welsh language. Later, he attended acting school at Theatr Clwyd. After graduating, he performed Welsh-language television series on S4C. in 1997, he studied acting at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London and started his acting career.

Rhys Ifans started his acting career with television and he was first seen in Stwnsh (1990), a children’s quiz program. In 1997, he debuted in the movie Twin Town where he played the role of Jeremy Lewis. In 2000, he narrated the animated kids series Sali Mali.
