Gypsy Rose Blanchard is an American murderer convicted of murder who killed her mother Dee Dee Blanchard in July 2015. She plotted the murder of her mother along with her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, with whom she met online. Police initially thought Gypsy was also a victim of foul play, but the investigation led them to the truth. Gypsy and Nicholas Godejohn were found and extradited to Missouri. Then, the truth about what Gypsy had lived through her entire life began to surface and all of Dee Dee’s lies began to unfold.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard was born on July 1, 1991, in Louisiana in the United States. Her father is called Rod Blanchard and her mother is called Dee Dee Blanchard. Her parents separated shortly before her birth. She has a stepmother named Kristy. Dee Dee claimed that her daughter Gypsy Rose suffered from leukemia, asthma, and muscular dystrophy, along with several other chronic conditions. She also claimed that Gypsy had the mental capacity of a 7-year-old girl due to brain damage from her premature birth. The gypsy had a small bicycle accident while she was on her grandfather’s bicycle when she was 7 or 8 years old. She suffered a knee abrasion. Thereafter, her Gypsy was confined to a wheelchair although she was healthy enough to walk on her own on several occasions.
At the time of schooling, she stopped going to school after second grade and was home-schooled due to her alleged illness.
In July 2015, Gypsy Rose Blanchard accepted the plea bargain and pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. She was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, has yet to face more serious charges, as he was the one who killed Dee Dee, and in 2018 Gypsy Rose testified at her trial. Godejohn was convicted of first-degree murder. Godejohn was sentenced to life in prison in February 2019.
