Bruce Willis reveals he has aphasia and ends his acting career

The family of the famous actor reveals today that he suffers from aphasia and, by the same token, that he is ending his acting career. 

By definition, an aphasic person is someone who has difficulty expressing themselves and understanding language. Aphasia usually results from disorders that do not cause progressive damage such as stroke, head trauma or brain infection (encephalitis).

Here is the statement issued by the family of Bruce Willis on the Instagram account of his daughter, Rummer Willis: 

”  To the amazing Bruce fans , as a family, we wanted to share that our beloved Bruce has had health issues and was recently diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities. As a result of this, and with great consideration, Bruce will step away from the career that meant so much to him.

This is a truly difficult time for our family, and we greatly appreciate your continued love, compassion, and support. We are going through this ordeal as a united and strong family. and we wanted to let his fans know because we know how much he means to you, as you mean to him.

As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we intend to do that.
