83 Excellent Opening Day: Ranveer Singh’s Film Earns 12 Crores at the Box Office.

Trade expert Taran Adarsh said Ranveer Singh’s 83 had a “great” start in India on Friday, taking in a total of 12.64 crore on its first day of release. 83, Kabir Khan’s directorial debut, was delayed for a long period before it was released in theatres. It did well at premium multiplexes on its first day of release, but had a “dull” reception from the general public. Ranveer Singh portrays former Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev in 83, the year when India won the World Cup under Dev’s leadership. Sunil Gavaskar (played by Tahir Raj Bhasin), Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Yashpal Sharma, Sandip Patil, Kirti Azad, Roger Binny, Madan Lal, Syed Kirmani, Balvinder Singh Sandhu, and Ammy Virk were all part of the winning team (played by R Badree).

Romi Dev, Kapil Dev’s wife, is played by Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh’s wife and actress.
