Blake Lively, fashion icon and co-host of the 2022 MET Gala, has just hit the red carpet. Prepare to be blown away by her vision of golden glamour.
Blake Lively wore a strapless copper-colored dress with matching opera gloves from Versace. The dress, with art deco-inspired metallic beading, was literally tied with a bow that extended into a huge train. The actress combined the ensemble with a small tiara and emerald earrings.
She attended the 2022 MET Gala with her husband and co-host, Ryan Reynolds, who wore a Versace tuxedo.
The celebrities of the moment, from Kim Kardashian to Blake Lively, passing through the Spanish Rosalía, opted this Monday for classic glamor at a Met Gala that encouraged them to pay homage to the “golden age” of New York and drink of extravagance in smaller doses than other years.
The exclusive event, which raises funds for the Fashion Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of New York (Met) and follows a marked theme, was held again on the first Monday in May, as was the tradition since the 1990s until the pandemic forced cancel the appointment in 2020 and postpone it to September last year.
But that is not all. Walking up the steps, the Betty Buzz founder unrolled the bow, revealing turquoise fabric at the bottom of her train. You saw it? It’s like when copper rusts, not like New York’s most famous green lady, the Statue of Liberty.
The Lady of Liberty was given to the United States by France in 1885, in the midst of the Gilded Age.
Co-host Blake Lively was one of the first stars to dazzle in a beaded Versace gown with a huge satin bow that unfurled to reveal a powder blue train.

Blake Lively smiled for the cameras in her bigdress, accompanied by her husband Ryan Reynolds in a brown velvet suit.
Lively’s pink and bronze gown dress transformed into a shimmering cape of sky blue after a large bow was pulled from her skirt. He was inspired by the Statue of Liberty , the Empire State Building, and the blue roof of New York’s Grand Central Station.
Instead of looking to fashion to influence dress, I looked to New York architecture,” Lively said.
The cost of a seat at the Met Gala started at $35,000 last year, though some attend for free. Celebrities are sometimes accompanied (and pay their bills) by the designers who dress them or other companies that invite them. With this edition focused on inclusion in fashion, it may celebrate and include more anonymous designers than usual.
The event is the brainchild of the late Eleanor Lambert , a fashion publicist as powerful as Wintour was in her day. In 1948, she needed to figure out a way to pay for the newly formed Costume Institute, the only department at the Met that must raise its own funds
While many on Wintour’s guest list follow the dress code, others go their own way. Interpretation is everything.
