The premiere date of the series has not yet has been announced, but it is known that production and filming will begin during the first months of 2023.
Who was Paco Stanley and how did he die?
The death of Paco Stanley was one of the most resonant events in the recent history of Mexico. The day he lost his life, the comedian and driver was having lunch at the restaurant El Charco de las Ranas where he was accompanied by his colleagues Jorge Gil and Mario Bezares, his driver Jorge García Escandón and some bodyguards.
After the meal, Bezares went to the bathroom of the place while Stanley and the rest of those present went to the truck that was waiting for them. It was then that they were surprised by some individuals who were armed with machine guns and fired more than 20 shots at the vehicle, causing the immediate death of the TV Azteca driver.
In addition to Stanley ‘s death , several of his companions suffered gunshot wounds, as was the case with Jorge Gil. Other people who were near the scene at the time of the event were also hit by bullets.
After the event, an exhaustive police investigation was carried out, which led to the conjecture of many hypotheses. One of the most relevant was that of Stanley ‘s ties to drug trafficking, since the day of his murder a bag of cocaine was found in him. The event resulted in a wave of criticism and great discomfort against Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas Solórzano, who at that time was serving as Head of Government of the Federal District.
A few weeks after the murder, the security forces incriminated Mario Bezares and the aide-de-camp Paola Durante as the masterminds of the act. The Federal District Attorney General’s Office (PGJDF) based its accusations on the statement of the cook of the drug trafficker Luis Ignacio Amezcua, who assured that his employer had had meetings with Bezares and Durante in which they planned the murder of Stanley.
In 1999, the Bezares y Durante prison was ordered together with other presumed involved in the crime. However, in January 2021 they were released as they did not have enough evidence to charge them with the crime. A year later, the head of the Tijuana cartel’s hitmen is identified as the material author and in 2011 he denied his guilt. To date, it is unknown who was the perpetrator of the murder of Paco Stanley .
