Good news for Disneyland visitors: James Cameron’s Avatar will soon be making an appearance in the popular theme parks. Disney CEO Bob Iger announced a new attraction based on the Avatar series, stating that there will soon be a “Avatar experience” for Disneyland visitors. He did not, however, reveal any details about it.
Bob Iger also stated that Avatar has become a core franchise for the corporation, and that they intend to use it to “leverage success” across business lines and geographies.
The Way of Water, James Cameron’s latest Avatar installment, was a great hit internationally, grossing over $2.17 billion. It is currently the fourth highest-grossing film of all time. Avatar 3, 4, and 5 are also in the works, according to the popular director. They will be available on December 20, 2024, December 18, 2026, and December 22, 2028.
In terms of entertainment parks, Disneyland continues to fuel both top and bottom-line growth for Disney. The division’s revenue increased by 21% to close to $8.8 billion in the fiscal first quarter, accounting for over one-third of total revenue.
