AnnaLynne McCord, star of 90210, has caused controversy on social networks after dedicating a poem to Vladimir Putin in the midst of armed conflict in Ukraine.
The actress came under fire on Twitter when she recited an original poem to the Russian president in which she appears to suggest that she could have positively influenced him had she been his mother.
The video in which he recites the poem was released shortly after the Kremlin ordered the Russian military to launch a full-scale land, sea, and air invasion of Ukraine.
“I am very sorry that I was not your mother,” said the celebrity. “If I were your mother, you would have been so loved. Held in the arms of joyful light. Never the plight of this story, the world would unfold before our eyes. A pure death. Of the nation sitting peacefully under a night sky.”
She went on to say, “If I were your mother, the world would have been warm. So much laughter and joy, nothing would hurt. I can’t imagine the stain. The pain that steals your soul that the little boy, you must have seen and believed and the formulation of the thought quickly taught you that you lived in a cruel and unjust world. Is that why you now decide that no one will bring out the best in you? Is that why you don’t hide or be ashamed to take back the world? Was it because so early in life all that fighting shook your little body with fear?
Later in the video, which lasted more than two minutes, McCord said: “Oh, dear Mr. President Putin! If only she had been his mother, perhaps the unwritten torture of youth would not imbue within his heart the ascription of such loyalty against it. a world that seemed so cruel.
And he continued: “Perhaps you would esteem human life. And on this night, instead of Mother Russia, you would call on me and I would free your mind with the love that only a mother can give and only a mother can take away,” the actress said, referring to the first attacks she ordered in Kiev.
In the comments, the actress received multiple criticisms, including that of the writer Giulia Rozzi, who regretted that she blamed women for the president’s actions in the face of the largest political conflict in Europe since World War II.
“Dear actress AnnaLynne McCord, I am so sorry I was not your mother. If I were your mother, she would have taught you not to blame women for the behavior of men.”
Another user described the poem as a “selfish and careless” action for the words that signal a possible defense of the president.
“Fed up with the narrative that it’s the women’s fault when men turn into deranged, power-hungry monsters. Women are not responsible for the choices and behavior of men!”, “I remember thinking that no one could make something worse and then AnnLynne McCord made this video”, were some of the comments that rained on the video.
The video immediately went viral on social networks and more than 25.1 million people played it, so far it has more than 17,500 retweets and 81,000 likes.
Until now, the Nip/Tuck actress has not commented on the matter despite the criticism that has already crossed the networks.
