Let me explain, there are two units of a volume called gallons, the British gallon and the US gallon. Both gallons are equal to 8 pints, the problem is that in the United States a pint is 16 fluid ounces, while in Great Britain it is 20. Also, both fluid ounces are different.
In other words, the imperial gallon is larger than the American one, approximately one20 %twenty%
I must admit that I had a good time researching this, it reminded me of my student days when I picked up an American book that came with such logical and simple units. In short, what has been said, the traditional US and imperial unit systems are a paragon of simplicity. Why do we insist on the rest of the world using that invention of the devil that is the SI?
Used in the US and well apart from America, the conversion has a very easy pattern to follow, it resembles computer processors:
Volume Units (ounce, cup, pint, gallon):
Length Units (inches, feet, yards, miles):
The mess is when we try to convert it to the Metric System, but they don’t.
Measurement conversions in the kitchen do not seem to be a problem, but one day you are trying to cook a beef Wellington that you saw on Robegrill’s channel (I leave here the video of Professor Robegrill: Video of professor robe executing a wellington) to impress your little girl and you realize that the issue of measurements is not as simple as it might seem, you feel as if you were trying to solve a quadratic equation and the one who ends up shrieking and without a spanking from your girl is you and not the steak (if you didn’t get the joke, watch Master RobeGrill’s video hehe).
Knowing by heart how many teaspoons are in a tablespoon or how many cups are in a gallon can make you the next Gordon Ramsay.
So so you don’t disappoint your girlfriend (here we are inclusive) we pass you these measures that could save your relationship:
Food Measurement Conversions:
These are the most common conversions that will help you become a high-caliber chef. Believe it or not, knowing how many teaspoons are in a tablespoon and how many tablespoons are in a cup is enough to change the rules of the game.
How many ounces are in a gallon?
1 gallon = 4 quarts = 8 pints = 16 cups = 128 fluid ounces
How many teaspoons are there in a tablespoon?
1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons
How many tablespoons are in a cup?
1/8 cup = 2 tablespoons
1/4 cup = 4 tablespoons
1/2 cup = 8 tablespoons
3/4 cup = 12 tablespoons
1 cup = 16 tablespoons
How many ounces equals a cup?
1 cup = 8 fluid ounces
