Bhogi festival: It is enough that ‘Sankranthi’ has arrived.

Telugu logs get the festival charm. ‘Sankranthi’ is the biggest festival celebrated by the Telugu people. The festival is celebrated for four days. The day before Sankranthi, the ‘Bhogi festival’ is celebrated.

Especially in the states of AP, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, this celebration is being held in grand style. Telugus are ready to celebrate on January 13 this year. 

Adults derive bhogi from the word ‘bhaga’. Bhogi is considered to be the last day of Dakshinayana. That is why the hardships and sufferings of Dakshinayanam are offered to the god of fire in the form of bonfires.

Everyone gets up early on the day of the bonfire and lights the bonfire. Nuts made with mustard and old household items are set on fire. Bhogi Day is also a festival of dolls and paraphernalia. Bhogi means plums are poured on small children. On that day the plums turn into costa bonfires.

Some of the villages are far away from this bonfire festival where everyone gathers together. Many villages in the Vijayanagar District of the state do not celebrate this festival. Locals say the custom of coming to Anandi cannot be abandoned.
