Smuggled cargo of cell phones valued at BRL 638,000 is seized

A team from the Ponta Por Operational Base of the Military Highway Police was able to seize a shipment of cell phones that had been smuggled in from Paraguay on Monday. The shipment had been brought in illegally by another individual. The shipment was worth a total of R$ 638,000 in total value (20).

According to the police, an inspection was taking place on MS-16,4 at the time that the driver of a Hyundai/IX35 vehicle with the license plate number Cuiabá (MT) was approached. The police claim that this took place at the same time.

There was a man driving the vehicle who was 51 years old, and a woman who was 39 years old who was riding as a passenger in the vehicle with the man who was driving it.

During the course of an inspection of the vehicle, the police discovered and reported finding in the smuggled cargo 190 mobile phones of various models belonging to the iPhone brand. These phones were found in the vehicle in question.

The driver mentioned that she had bought the items in Paraguay with the intention of reselling them in the Campo Grande region after she had returned from her trip.
After that, the cargo was seized and delivered to the custody of the Federal Revenue.
