The tension does not yield in the Front of All and each movement communicates in the official party. This Wednesday, one of the main actors in that tense scenario reappeared in the suburbs: Máximo Kirchner was part of an act of the Metallurgical Workers’ Union (UOM), where this week a leader close to the national deputy, Abel Furlán, displaced Antonio Caló from driving after almost 20 years.

Yesterday in Quilmes the assumption of Adrián Pérez was carried out, the new head of the local branch that came from the hand of Furlán. In turn, the candidacy in question was sponsored by the mayor of that district and a reference for La Cámpora Mayra Mendoza.

The son of the vice president, who was in charge of putting on the table his differences with the Executive, mainly in the management of the agreement with the International Monetary Fund, was part of the meeting and somehow ended up capitalizing on the political movement that was known this Tuesday and generated a surprising change in the UOM.

It is that Antonio Caló was sure that he was going to have the majority of voters on his side to go for a new mandate at the head of the union, but he did not imagine what was brewing from a generational renewal and the political impulse of leaders who feel closer to the ideas of Kirchnerism.

This is how a key trade union ally for Alberto Fernández stepped aside by agreeing not to appear in the vote of the 290 voters who finally consecrated the only list, unanimously, led by Furlán, a former deputy of the Front for Victory.

Also referenced in that space are Daniel Daporta, the new head of the Avellaneda Section; Diego Espeche, revalidated at the polls as head of the San Miguel Sectional; and the aforementioned Pérez, brand new leader of the Quilmes Sectional who prevailed over Francisco “Barba” Gutiérrez, with 38 years in his position.

“Together with great compañeras and compañeros, including Máximo Kirchner, we participated in the inauguration of the new authorities of the Com. Director of UOM Regional Quilmes, Berazategui and Florencio Varela. A hug to the fellow Secretary General, Adrián Pérez!”, celebrated on Twitter the trade unionist who represents the tanning workers, and former national deputy, Walter Correa. Mayra Mendoza spoke in the same vein.

Close to hard Kirchnerism, Furlán is the benchmark of a new generation that burst into the main UOM sections and that feel more identified with the K governments than with traditional Peronism.

Along with him, Daporta, Espeche, Pérez, are the ones who began the military when Néstor Kirchner assumed the Presidency in 2003 and who looked askance at Caló, for example, when in 2017 he made the UOM available to Florencio’s presidential candidacy Randazzo, with the current President as his campaign manager.

Thus, the “new ideas” that prevail in the metallurgical guild are evident. The newly assumed Pérez, also a member of the national UOM, told Infobae that “in the UOM the ruling party ended just because they were ruling party.” And he warned: “We are going to accompany the Government that with its measures defends the workers. If not, we will not accompany him”.

In addition, in the last hours, it transpired that Furlán would debut this Thursday his suit as the new leader of the UOM next to Máximo Kirchner in the Kirchnerist mobilization for March 24 from the former ESMA to the Plaza de Mayo.

In fact, the acts will expose the differences in the ruling party, which today appear irreconcilable despite the calls for unity by some actors in the space. Alberto Fernández has already decided to distance himself from the one organized by La Cámpora together with the Mothers’ Association led by Hebe de Bonafini.

Instead, the Head of State chose to lead a tribute to miss scientists to be held at the Ministry of Science and Technology. He then considered moving to the interior, on a flight to La Rioja, to participate in another commemoration together with a related Justicialist governor, Ricardo Quintela, in honour of Monsignor Enrique Angelelli.

However, the visit was shelved. In full swing of the Front of All, he does not want to give the impression that he is moving away from the center of the scene.

What do you think?
