The national government reported that some 80 Argentines have been able to leave Ukraine for different countries, through permanent coordination between the Argentine diplomatic representations and the collaboration of local immigration authorities.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that, among the group of last travellers, are the wife of the Mendoza soccer player Gerónimo Poblete and their two children who were in Kharkiv.

With these latest efforts, there are no longer Argentines who were temporarily in Ukraine during the beginning of the Russian invasion, according to the direct contacts with Argentines in conflict zones that are permanently maintained by both the Argentine Embassy accredited to Ukraine and the Argentine Foreign Ministry.

In this way, until this Saturday some 80 Argentines and 14 foreign relatives of them managed to leave the territory that is under military siege.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled that “a White Helmets mission has been arranged ” that installed a Mobile Consulate made up of consular personnel and specialized volunteers “to assist Latin Americans arriving from Ukraine to the Polish border”.

The intention of this mission of the specialized body is to ” facilitate the documentary processing, provide psychological support, and facilitate the logistical means for their passage through the border, providing guidance for their subsequent displacement to the destination where they are going, a task that is carried out coordinated manner through cooperation mechanisms in the expanded consular network that make up the representations of Latin American countries in the region”, reported the Foreign Ministry.

In turn, the Foreign Ministry reiterated to the nationals who are in Ukrainian territory that it is essential to know where they are in order to assist them in the best way. For such purposes, the email box argentinosenucrania@mrecic.gov.ar is enabled.

In recent days, the Argentine government ordered the evacuation of the embassy in the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. The decision was communicated by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero this afternoon at Casa Rosada, due to the increase in hostilities on the part of Russia.

Ambassador Elena Mikusinski, her daughter, and other embassy employees initially tried to head for the Romanian border, but eventually had to change their original plans and leave the country via Moldova, heading south-west.

At this time, the Argentine Foreign Ministry and the Government of the City of Buenos Aires established the first contacts so that with joint work, to which other provinces could also join, humanitarian aid can be obtained for Ukraine as a result of the war that is already taking place 10 days with enormous human and material losses.

Fernando Straface, Secretary of International Relations of the Buenos Aires government, held telephone conversations this Friday with Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero and with the Secretary of Strategic Affairs of the Alberto Fernández government, Gustavo Beliz. As Infobae was able to find out, the result of these talks was “very productive” and “beyond the crack”.

Another province that could join this initiative in San Luis. Senator Adolfo Rodríguez Saá communicated this week with the Ukrainian embassy, to offer himself as an intermediary in seeking help for the Ukrainians.

This week, after some ups and downs and initial caution, the government toughened its rhetoric against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, also expressed himself on Twitter about the armed conflict and had said in his speech before the Legislative Assembly of the City that the Russian attacks constituted a violation of the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also called for the Legislature to vote on a declaration condemning the invasion and calling for the restoration of peace.
