You can now share your location with your friends on Snapchat

Despite Snapchat’s declining popularity, the platform continues to make efforts to develop new features that will reawaken the interest of new audiences.

In this new function, users of the social network will be able to share their location in real time with their contacts, with the aim of using it as a temporary system while friends or relatives are on their way to an appointment or to any specific site.

It is a tool that will work in a similar way to the Find My iOS application, according to The Verge portal.

Users will be able to see and share the precise location of a person

The feature will allow you to adjust the time you want to share your location, which can be 15 minutes or a few hours with individual users. This can only be done between mutual friends.

How Snapchat’s real-time location works

The first thing to note is that this feature is not enabled by default and you will also not be able to share your real-time location with all your Snapchat friends.

Another important detail is that to reduce the risk of pressure and harassment to share the location, users will be able to pause the exchange without having to send a notification to the other party, as explained by the app itself.

To activate the new Snapchat feature, users will need to go to a friend’s profile and select the duration of location sharing. Live location sharing status will be visible within the chat.
