WhatsApp returns the display of the contact list to its traditional format. It turns out that feedback from beta testers wasn’t very positive about the changes it intended to make to the app’s contact list interface.
If you remember, WhatsApp recently received an update that included two sections to view the contact list: “Frequently connected” and “Recent chats”.
After the update, WABetaInfo released the following tweet to get user feedback regarding the change.
The response from users was negative and they completely rejected this new proposal that was intended to make it easier to search for favorite contacts.
Users’ comments on Twitter said things like: “Horrible, I just want to find new contacts in alphabetical order”, “I don’t like to delete any conversations, so it was a mess, with old numbers from other people and outdated groups”, “It looks very messy and confused”, among others.
The backlash prompted the developers to take action and revert the changes made to the contact list interface.
Now, users can access their contact list just like they did before, with users sorted alphabetically and not in sections. Apparently, that new proposal only made the process more complicated.
It is not known if WhatsApp will launch a similar modification in this section later, but for now, the platform has decided to back down.
