World tycoon Elon Musk, the head of Tesla, has kept his word. David Baseley, the former director of the United Nations World Food Program, has donated about 5 million Tesla shares in response to a call by world leaders to come forward to satisfy the hunger of children. According to the filings filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, from November 19 to November 29, Tesla, a leading electric car maker, donated more than 5 million shares of its stock.
The donation from Musk is estimated to be worth about $ 5.7 billion (approximately Rs. 43,000 crore). This donation will be one of the largest donations ever made in the history of the world. However, it is not yet clear to which charity the donation was made. The trust did not even include details provided to regulatory bodies. David Bailey, director of the United Nations World Food Program, has previously said that billionaires like Musk could “starve” millions of poor people.
It was previously tweeted that about 4.2 crore people in the world need $ 6 billion (approximately Rs. 45,000 crore) to satisfy their hunger. Responding to this, Musk said in the past that he was ready to sell $ 6 billion worth of shares now and hand them over to the United Nations Food Agency if your plan on the eradication of hunger for the poor reveals how the funds could be put to good use. Musk then donated his company shares as promised.
