The Miami Heat were defeated by the Dallas Mavericks 115-90. Luka Doncic finished with 34 points and 12 rebounds, and the Mavericks boosted their defensive energy to achieve the victory.

On Friday night, the Dallas Mavericks routed the Miami Heat 115-90 thanks in large part to the performance of Luka Doncic, who finished with 34 points and 12 rebounds. The Mavericks also turned up their defensive intensity.

 

The Mavericks were missing their second-leading scorer, Christian Wood, who is likely to miss numerous games due to a fractured left thumb. Wood missed this game as well as the first of what is projected to be multiple games.

The Mavericks outscored the Heat 63-35 while limiting them to 33 percent shooting in the first and third quarters of their game against the Heat. This came two nights after head coach Jason Kidd was extremely critical of Dallas’ defensive performance.

 

Forty points were scored against Dallas while they were playing Atlanta in the first quarter of their loss of 130-122. The Mavericks have now suffered three consecutive defeats in which they have given up at least 130 points to their opponents.

The total number of points scored by Miami was the lowest for a Mavs opponent all season.

Both Victor Oladipo and Bam Adebayo scored 20 points for the Heat, who came into their game against Dallas riding a 4-1 run that put them a season-high four games above.500. Bam Adebayo also had 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Heat. Victor Oladipo had 20 points.
