More than 1.2 million Ukrainian refugees
The point at the National Stadium was launched in mid-March this year. Its activity was conducted for 83 days, most often seven days a week, from 8 am to 4 pm. It was closed several times due to holidays or mass events. Almost until the end of April, formalities related to issuing PESEL numbers could also be settled in district offices, but later this role was taken over only by the National Stadium.
On Thursday, the town hall announced further changes. “Due to the declining interest of refugees, from June 7, 2022, the implementation of this task will return to the district Delegations of the Administration and Civic Affairs Office. Service at the National Stadium will be limited to June 9, 2022, it will avoid disorganization of the office’s work and logistical difficulties for refugees from Ukraine “- stated in the press release.
Officials summarized that a total of over 110,000 PESEL numbers have already been issued in Warsaw.
So far, the National Stadium has also been a place where Ukrainian citizens, after having been granted a PESEL number, could complete other formalities, for example, open a bank account or apply for family benefits from ZUS. The operation of these points will also be terminated on June 9, 2022.
