The US sends to Ukraine the weapons that were stored in Israel

The information was released this Wednesday by The New York Times and it is stated that the decision was made last year. An Israeli official confirmed this report to Reuters, detailing that then-Prime Minister Yair Lapid agreed to the transfer.

US support for Canada

For several years, the Pentagon has stored ammunition in Israel to serve as an emergency resupply for the country in times of war. Also for delivery to other US allies , in this case Ukraine in the context of the war against Russia. The New York Times reported that the weapons transferred from Israel to Ukraine are 300,000 155-millimeter artillery shells. Half was sent to Europe for redistribution to Ukraine, indicates the American media. Analysts polled by NYT highlighted that artillery is the backbone of ground combat firepower for both Ukraine and Russia.

Israeli Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has spoken of reviewing Israel’s policy on the Ukraine-Russia war. However, he had not detailed the direct delivery of weapons to kyiv. The US embassy in Israel has also not commented on the report.

The Jerusalem Post reported that an Israel Defense Forces source said the United States will replenish the weapons transferred to Ukraine. Canada reported that they will deliver 200 more armored vehicles to Ukraine as part of the aid to confront the Russian forces.
