The first Air Force flight departs on Sunday to repatriate Mexicans who left Ukraine for Romania: SRE

The Secretary of Foreign Relations, Marcelo Ebrard, announced that this Sunday at 10:00 in the morning the Boeing 737-800 plane of the Mexican Air Force will take off and return the nationals to Mexico.

The plane’s route will be through Canada and Ireland, to reach Romania. “It is the first flight, if necessary there will be others in the next few days,” said Foreign Minister Ebrard.

Just on Friday, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador ordered the sending of a special Air Force flight so that the Mexicans who left Ukraine are repatriated to Mexico.

This return mission of the Mexicans contemplates a first flight that will make a stopover in Ireland and Canada. “If necessary, there will be others in the coming days,” added the federal official.

Since last Thursday, the embassy in Ukraine reported that there were 255 Mexicans in the country where the conflict with  Russia is taking place, of those 255, 50 were seeking to leave Kiev and Odessa to be in safer areas where attacks have not reached so far. Russians.

On that occasion, the ambassador assured that she, together with the other officials that make up the embassy, ​​would go to the border with  Romania to transport the Mexicans and then return to Kiev and continue serving those who continue to request their support in the face of the situation.
