Kiev, Feb 26 (EFE) .- Explosions have been heard in the Ukrainian capital that, according to local authorities, are due to Russia trying to attack a thermal power plant, while in Vasilkov, about 37 kilometers from the city, a tough battle is being fought, according to the Armed Forces.

“Explosions in Kiev. What is known?” the Kyiv City State Administration wrote on its Telegram account.

He explained that the “enemy is trying to attack the CHP-6 plant near Troieshchyna”, in the north of the capital.

“The Armed Forces give battle,” he assured.

Also, 37 kilometers to the southwest, resistance continues in Vasilkov, where the Russians are trying to land paratroopers, the same source said.

“Heavy fighting is taking place in the city of Vasilkov, in the Kiev region, where the occupiers are trying to land a landing party,” the Armed Forces command said on its official Facebook account.

He indicated that at 01:30 a.m. (10:30 GMT), a Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Force Su-27 fighter “successfully attacked the IL-76 MD military transport aircraft of the Russian occupation forces and destroyed the enemy”.

 

Shortly before, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, stated that tonight will be difficult, predicting that Russia will try to storm Kiev and other places.

“I can say with absolute honesty: tonight is going to be harder than the day. Many cities of our state are under attack: Chernigov, Sumy, Kharkov, Donbas, in the south. Particular attention to Kiev: you cannot lose the capital”, he told the Armed Forces in a new address to the nation published by his office on Telegram.

“Tonight, on all fronts, the enemy will use all available forces to break our resistance: vile, cruel, and inhuman. Tonight they will assault”, he affirmed.

RUSSIAN SOLDIERS ENTER

Russian soldiers have entered the Obolon district of Kiev, the Defense Ministry reported today.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense asked citizens to report any movement of enemy war equipment and prepare Molotov cocktails to “neutralize the occupier.”
