Russian hacker attack Killnet against Italian institutional sites

From 22 last night. The ministry of education and cultural heritage, the CSM and the foreign ministry are in the sights. Investigate the Public Prosecutor of Rome

Attack by Killnet’s Russian hackers on Italian institutional sites, including those of some ministries. In particular, since 10 pm yesterday a hacker attack has been underway on some sites including that of the Ministry of Education and Cultural Heritage, the CSM, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The action is attributable to Russian hackers attributable to the Killnet collective. The police are working to mitigate the effects of the action. In particular, the specialists of the Postal Police are working.

“The institutional website of the Excise, Customs and Monopoly Agency – the Adm said in a note – has not been the subject of a cyber offensive and keeps its functions active”.

“There was an attempt, with some slowdown, but it seems that there was no great damage”, said the vice president of the CSM, David Ermini, commenting on the hacker attack on the Internet system of the Superior Council of the judiciary on the sidelines of the inauguration of the new Santa Maria Novella police station.

The Rome Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation file in relation to the new hacker attack and the file of the prosecutors of the Anti-terrorism of the Capital, coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Michele Prestipino, will converge on the one already open, for unauthorized access to the computer system, last week after the cyberattack claimed by the pro-Russian collective that hit other institutional sites, including that of the Senate and the Istituto Superiore di Sanità.

In both cases, these are DDos (Denial of Service) attacks by multiple ‘zombie’ computers remotely controlled by hackers. The investigations are entrusted to the specialists of the Postal Police, who are also working to mitigate the effects of the action.

“As far as hacker attacks are concerned, a plan has been approved by the government for national security which I believe is very important. We have a special agent working on this and also our postal and telecommunications police operating in the Ministry of the Interior. We felt the importance of this area so much that that office was raised to the level of central management, with more men and more resources, precisely to monitor this type of episode “. This was stated by the Minister of the Interior, Luciana Lamorgese, speaking in Florence with journalists on the sidelines of the inauguration of the new police station ‘Santa Maria Novella’.
