Boris Johnson walked around the center of Kyiv and received an unexpected gift
The day before, the British Prime Minister arrived on an unannounced working visit to Ukraine and held talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s visit to Kyiv came as a surprise: the flight was not announced in advance. Later, a representative of the British prime minister said that Johnson went to Kyiv to personally meet with the Ukrainian president as a sign of solidarity with the Ukrainian people. After the official meeting, Johnson walked around the center of Kyiv and even received an unexpected gift. This is reported in the Office of the President of Ukraine.
After meeting with the President of Ukraine, Boris Johnson went for a walk around Kyiv with Volodymyr Zelensky. They walked along Bankovaya Street, visited the House with Chimeras, visited the memorial of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, went down to the Maidan, and walked along Khreshchatyk.
“Kyiv is still sparsely populated and with frequent air raids. But just as beautiful and already without fighting in the suburbs. We visited the memorial to the memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. Unfortunately, our heroes continue to die daily at the front in the fight against the Russian invaders, but with the help of our faithful friends like the UK, we are getting closer to victory every day. Thank you Boris Johnson for visiting and supporting Ukraine. We will win, there is no other way!” — wrote Zelensky on social networks.
During the walk, Johnson and Zelensky were accompanied by several military men and the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak.
The Prime Minister of Great Britain was presented with an unexpected gift – ceramic cockerels, which became a real hit after the photo from Borodyanka shelled by Russian troops. Such a cockerel survived on a kitchen cabinet in a destroyed high-rise building.
Majolica was presented to the British prime minister by Kharkiv artist Valeria Polyanskova, who bought it as a gift for friends from Poland.
“The fact that the Cockerel is one of the main symbols of victory became clear from the first photos,” the girl said, explaining that she met Johnson and Zelensky by chance while walking along Lutheranskaya Street.
The author of the ceramic cockerel, which has already become a symbol of the resilience of the Ukrainian people, as the Ukrainian president later wrote, is Prokop Bidasyuk, a craftsman from Vasylkov.
