To remedy this, they had first had the idea of ​​imposing a British accent to King T’Challa during his appearance in “Captain America: Civil War”. A condition that has obviously revolted the interpreter of the title role: Chadwick Boseman.

A realistic accent or nothing

On the screen, King T’Challa has a Xhosa accent, a tonal tongue from southern Africa that Chadwick Boseman learned to imitate with the help of a coach. But obviously, this idea was not really the taste of production. “They felt it would be a little too hard for the public to accept,” he told an interview with the Hollywood Reporter, adding: “For me, it was the opposite – if I had taken a British accent, what would I look like on my way home? ”

For him, it was simply impossible to play this role without adopting a realistic focus, so he convinced the studios: “I told them, ‘No, it’s too important, if we decide to lose that, that are we going to give up after just to not shock people? “
