WhatsApp will tell you if you have COVID with a cough audio

Through artificial intelligence, a chatbot could indicate if the person should take a COVID test to confirm the diagnosis.

A new way to detect cases of COVID-19 has arrived in Argentina . Felipe Miguel, Chief of Staff of the City of Buenos Aires, reported that the government launched an artificial intelligence system on WhatsApp , where the virus can be detected through a cough audio.

In his Twitter account, the public official indicated that the detection system is available in Boti , a chatbot with which people can contact through a telephone number.

The dynamic is simple: you contact Boti via WhatsApp , send an audio note where you cough and you will know if you should take a PCR or antigen test to confirm the diagnosis.

How does Bot work?
The chatbot will be able to detect if you have COVID by listening to your cough, one of the first symptoms of the disease. This is possible thanks to IATos , an artificial intelligence system that is 86 percent efficient in predicting suspected cases of COVID.

The technology implemented by the Argentine government trained its chatbot with artificial intelligence from a bank with 140 thousand coughs to detect COVID. According to Felipe Miguel, the effectiveness was greater than 80 percent.
