A missile hits a high-rise residential building in Kiev, injuring

A projectile hit a residential building in Kiev on Saturday, which is located near the Zhuliany airport, the State Emergency Situations Service of Ukraine reported.

The missile caused damage between floors 17 and 21, the entity said. Shortly after,  he explained that 6 people were injured, adding that a total of 80 neighbors were evacuated from the building.

The mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Vitali Klichkó, ​​shared a video on his Telegram channel showing the moment of impact.

Amid reports that the projectile was fired by Russian troops carrying out the military operation in Ukraine, a source at the Russian Defense Ministry told RIA Novosti that the nature of the damage indicates that it was caused by a surface-to-air missile. The source stated that “it is clear” that there was a failure of the system to guide a missile from the Ukrainian Buk-M1 anti-aircraft defense complex when it was repelling an attack on the country’s military infrastructure and, as a consequence, a missile hit the building. of apartments.

The Russian Ministry of Defense repeatedly reiterated that they target only the military infrastructure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and do not carry out attacks on residential areas.
