Wooden Deckings: A Captivating Way to Upgrade Your Outdoors

Let’s take a detailed look into ‘Weathering’ and how it changes the look of your wooden deck.

Wooden deckings are widely loved by all because of the way they almost instantly elevate the aesthetics and the look of your property. What seemed bland and cast down earlier is transformed into a luxurious and well-furnished area that brings a subtle blend of nature right into your home.

But the one thing that most of our customers wonder about is how the texture and the color of the deckings seem to change over time. This process of change in the wood when it comes in contact with the atmosphere is called ‘Weathering.’ It’s a very natural process and, if we are being honest, very beautiful as well.

Weathering is nothing more than a sign that your wooden decking has grown, both in age and durability. Because the wood undergoes those changes to better adapt to the climatic conditions. But some of our clients don’t see it that way. So they treat their wooden deckings with an oil finish to avoid the process from happening. Still, all it does is slow the weathering down. Because it’s going to happen eventually. Nature is powerful that way.

But it’s a delight to see the majority of our clients appreciating the naturally weathered silvery gray look on their deckboards.

Because high-density hardwoods last so long and perform so well, you can choose either option (oil finish or unfinished) and still have a beautiful deck that will serve you well for many years. And since there are many species of wood like Ipe, Cumaru, Machiche, and Garapa that tend to age gracefully, just like the best wood does, their unique edges and look make for a marvellous hue when weathering does finally begin happening. These wooden deckings, in turn, also perform well under natural duress, all the while keeping pests at bay.

So, if a naturally grey-weathered low-maintenance look is what you are after, hardwood decking is the perfect choice for you. With its natural look and distinguished appearance, complete with unique grain patterns, hardwood decking is sure to last a long time, delivering happiness and enjoyment to you every time you spend some quality moments on your beautiful deck.

A writer by day and reader by night, I am someone who - as soon as she graduated from high school - knew she wanted to write. How? When? where? It did not matter as long as I got to write! And every second of it has been full of learning, adventure, and excitement. I love reading, especially high fantasy, fiction, and thrillers! And when I am not reading or reviewing books on my blog, I try my hand at graphic designing for blog posts, headers, logos. Add a little bit of video editing into the mix and I'm peachy!
