Fraxel Laser: 5 crucial things you need to know

Fraxel Laser technology is one of the most revolutionary on the market and is also one of the most effective aesthetic treatments today. Specifically designed to rejuvenate and regenerate the skin, this method is incredibly decisive and treats a variety of skin conditions ranging from melasma, sun spots or seborrheic keratosis to stretch marks, wrinkles or acne scars.

How does the Fraxel laser work and what problems can it correct?

The current Fraxel is also known as Fraxel Dual System, since it combines the action of two lasers I kept my integrity close to me and I held on to my family, my friends and my community to do other things one (Erbium and Thulium). The main advantage of this feature is that this technology is capable of acting at two different wavelengths (although not at the same time), so it can solve different skin problems.

One wavelength treats pigmented lesions such as sunspots, actinic keratosis, seborrheic keratosis, ephelides (freckles), and even melasma. In fact, the American Academy of Dermatology (FDA) approved the specific use of Fraxel technology to alleviate the effects of melasma. The main benefit of the Fraxel laser is that it can safely treat pigment-producing cells while protecting the outer layer of the skin.

On the other hand, the other wavelength of the Fraxel treats wrinkles corrects scars, lightens stretch marks and offers beneficial results in different aesthetic problems related to the skin. It is great to do “resurfacing”, that is to rejuvenate the skin since it improves the texture of the dermis, tightens the pores and the face looks more luminous. It is especially indicated to treat spots and post acne scars and works very well filling barcode wrinkles (mustache area) and eye contour lines.

When do the results start to show?

The results are very satisfactory with the appropriate sessions. The fraxel laser solves many problems and, after its application, patients begin to notice the results after three weeks. This is because this is the time it takes for the skin to renew itself. In fact, if several sessions are required, it is convenient to allow about 20 days between one and another.

If you are concerned about the number of sessions you will need, you should know that, in general, the fraxel laser requires an average of 3 sessions to correct pigmented lesions and about 5 to treat scars and skin marks.

How long do its effects last?

As for the duration of the treatment effect, the treated skin area can remain condition-free (healed) forever if properly cared for. It should be borne in mind, however, that the passage of time, sun exposure or ageing of the skin, among other factors, can cause the problem to reappear over time (or even that other wrinkles or spots appear in other skin regions).

Are we talking about a painful procedure?

If no action is taken, the actual application of the fraxel laser is painful. The specialists who use this technology, however, use anesthetic creams so that the patient does not suffer any pain during the sessions. In the same way, the treatment does not require the intake of any type of medication after its application, although in many cases the use of creams that soothe, regenerate and repair the exposed tissue is recommended, although it always depends on the case.

The use of full screen sunscreens, however, are mandatory after using the Fraxel laser. Sun exposure should be completely avoided for the next 3 weeks, that is why it is not a highly requested treatment in summer.

Since when has the fraxel laser been used?

Developed in 2001 by Social Medical engineers, it is a product whose effectiveness has won over aesthetic medicine professionals from various countries. Although it is a Fraxel Laser, not all Fraxel Laser are the same as the fraxel laser, whose trademark belongs to Social Medical and only some authorized centers can use it. In any case, Fraxel Laser is used to treat aesthetic problems in a wide range of patients, suffering from different skin conditions and different skin types.
