Female intimate surgery

More and more women are undergoing surgery in their intimate area to combat vaginal pain, dissatisfaction in sexual intercourse or any sequela that may have remained after childbirth or trauma. Age also usually leaves its mark on this intimate area, so for all these problems there is the so-called female intimate surgery, which has procedures as varied as laser vaginal rejuvenation, reconstruction of the clitoris or hymen or correction of the lips.

There are many women who are unaware of the existence of these techniques and even women who are not aware of the problem they have since they attribute it to the passage of time, fatigue or a blow received. The most used techniques in female intimate surgery are:

• Labiaplasties : intervention in which the upper or lower lips are retouched.
• Hymenoplasty : it is the technique by which the hymen or hypertrophic clitoris is reconstructed. It should only be done in patients who have suffered an accident or have a traumatic problem.
• Cystoplasty : reconstructs the clitoris but should not be confused with operations that are performed after ablation. This operation is recommended only in patients suffering from pain.
• Pelvic floor reconstruction : Usually done in women who have urinary and fecal incontinence after genital prolapse, mainly motivated by traumatic childbirth.
• Laser vaginal rejuvenation : it is the most prominent technique and is used to rebuild the outer third of the vagina and strengthen its muscles. It is widely used in women who have lost satisfaction in their sexual relationships.
