Diabetes: Does Eating Late Affect Glucosamine Control? This says Harvard

People with diabetes must control their blood glucose levels, but eating late can affect this goal on a regular basis

The primary goal of people with diabetes is to control blood glucose levels. All the actions of your routine should be focused on achieving it, to ensure that the side effects of this disease are as few as possible. Food is one of the actions that must be more controlled to be successful in this search.

An investigation from different universities worldwide sought to determine how much late dinner affects glucose tolerance, especially for those people who have a risky genetic variant in the melatonin receptor, MNTNR1B. This variant is present in more than 40 percent of people with diabetes.

The University of Murcia, the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, and Harvard University were involved in the study .

Does eating late affect glucose control?

In the study carried out by these three prestigious educational institutions, it was found that patients who present the MNTNR1B variant have a high risk of developing type 2 diabetes, if they eat a late and heavy dinner regularly. This is because eating late affects glucose tolerance in the body.

The endogenous melatonin produced by the body during the night, in the hour closest to sleep, can cause alterations in glucose metabolism. That is why it is recommended to have a very marked routine in feeding schedules, especially when it comes to the night.

The presence of food at night could cause the pancreas to produce less insulin, which translates into an increase in blood glucose levels.

In addition to a good eating routine for people with Diabetes, physical exercise is a wonderful idea to keep glucose levels within a healthy range. Thus, it helps eliminate episodes of hyperglycemia (high glucose) and delay the side effects of this disease.
