Matt Reeves’s The Batman already has a streaming premiere date for HBO MAX

The Batman, the latest DC Comics movie, has become a box office success, which sooner rather than later, superhero lovers will be able to enjoy it in their homes via streaming.

The film starring Robert Pattinson adds 485 million dollars at the box office and this weekend it will be released in Chinese theatres, where that figure is expected to increase, although not in an expected way.

As a result of sanitary measures, due to restrictions due to the coronavirus, not all movie theatres in China will be open, so the profits will not be as expected, although that will not diminish the success of the film directed by Matt Reeves.

Warner’s 45-day policy

The Batman can be enjoyed via streaming on HBO Max, and although the platform has not made an official announcement of its premiere, the HBO website accidentally announced that it will be available in the United States from April 19, a date that was confirmed by Deadline news portal.

Warner Bros has implemented in 2022 a policy of granting a period of 45 days of exclusivity for its films in theatres before they are available on digital platforms, and although that could subtract box office income, in the industry they estimate that the gross income of The Batman, which opened on March 4, will exceed $400 million in North American theatres alone.

Experience

This 45-day period was the same as that applied to The King Richard, a film starring Will Smith, which premiered in theatres on January 21, arriving on HBO Max on March 7.

This decision, although it could subtract box office profits, could also add subscribers to the platform.

The movement is very different from the one applied by Marvel with Spider-Man: No Way Home, which continues to add millions of dollars at the box office and is not yet available for streaming.
