Space Jam New Legends, the plot of the sequel with LeBron James

Space Jam New Legends stars  LeBron James (as himself), a basketball ace eager to see his son Dom retrace his footsteps. The kid, however, would prefer to program video games, and this vulnerability attracts the sights of a cruel sentient AI, put in charge of a “ Warnerverse ” on behalf of Warner Bros. The bad guy, AL-G Rhythm ( Don Cheadle ), kidnaps in his digital world. Dom, tricking him, to provoke LeBron into a virtual basketball challenge, sure he can steal all his followers. Virtualized, turned into a cartoon, LeBron can only resort to the help of those whom Michael Jordan helped years ago: the Looney Tunes, but first, he must work with Bugs Bunny to recover the rest of the gang, scattered among the Warnerverse films.

Space Jam New Legends, curiosity about Space Jam 2

The first Space Jam was a surprise: it cost $ 80 million, grossed $ 230 million worldwide, but the obvious sequel wasn’t in the works right away. It was almost ready, again by director Joe Pytka, so much so that the villain, that Berserk-O, created by the animator Bob Camp, had also been designed. Michael Jordan, however, despite the exploit, did not want to continue acting, so his fundamental support was lacking. Attempts to put Jackie Chan, driver Jeff Gordon and golfer Tiger Woods as protagonists led to nothing, so much so that Joe Dante’s Looney Tunes Back in Action (2003) took another direction, with a flop that froze all production by the Looney Tunes.
It was only in 2014 that the idea of a sequel reappeared on the horizon, motivated and supported by LeBron James, an admirer of Michael Jordan to the point of wanting to imitate him also in this cinematic excursus with Bugs Bunny. With his production company SpringHill Entertainment, James managed to involve Ryan Coogler, author of Creed and Black Panther, in September 2018, as co-producer and co-writer of the film.
