Maggie Gyllenhaal on Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight: I think nobody has done so well

During an interview on ‘Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen’ actress Maggie Gyllenhaal answered questions from some of the viewers. During one of these replicas the performer recalled how it was working with Heath Ledger during the filming of ‘The Dark Knight’.

Gyllenhaal could not help but get emotional, and in a calm and thoughtful way the actress praised the talent of Ledger: “Maybe this is not specific enough, but I remember going to work and see him in that scene where the Joker pulls me in a roof. It was the first time I saw it and today I still think about it, because it’s very difficult to be so good in a film as big as that. To be incredible as Heath was in a film full of explosions and action scenes, and I do not think anyone has ever done it the way he did in ‘The Dark Knight’  It was like: ‘Okay, it’s at Different Level »”

Heath Ledger as the Joker in ‘The Dark Knight’

Heath Ledger was one of those actors who turned completely in all his projects. Something that, over time, ended up taking a great price on their mental and emotional health. What, an unfortunate January 22, 2008, pushed him to an overdose of drugs that ended his life. Despite having left too early, the actor will always be remembered for some of his performances in titles such as 10 reasons to hate you, Brokeback Mountain.

Although the role that would define his career came with The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan. His version of the Joker left an unforgettable mark on the image of the villain today, leaving the bar very high in terms of interpretations of the character. So much that it has come back in an instant comparison every time an actor has given life to the character. A role that earned him an Oscar for best supporting actor, an award he sadly could not get to pick up and that was awarded posthumously. So Ledger became the only actor in a project based on a comic to win an Oscar, in addition to the only actor to be awarded posthumously in this category.
