Today is World Rose Day Learn about its history meaning and quotes.
Every year on September 22, World Rose Day is commemorated to honour cancer patients all around the world. The purpose of the day is to bring joy and optimism into the lives of such patients, as well as to remind them that through determination and positivity, they may triumph against cancer.
The inaugural World Rose Day was held in 1996 in memory of Melinda Rose, a 12-year-old cancer sufferer from Canada who died in 1996. Rose was diagnosed with Askin’s Tumour, a rare kind of blood cancer, in 1994, according to sources. Despite physicians’ predictions that she would only last a few weeks, Melinda Rose lived for more than three years.
On World Rose Day, people present roses, cards, and gifts to cancer patients and their carers, who are also vital in this arduous journey. As we all know, the fight against cancer is both physical and psychological, and activities like World Rose Day are vital because they provide patients with inner strength and motivation to keep moving forward even when the odds are stacked against them.
