Conforming to the report that was published to the states on Jan 3, there is up burst of a new strain variant which is 50% more contagious than the U.K. variant that is currently spreading among the people.

According to a statement made by the CDC, it has not observed any such kind of transmissible new variant of the coronavirus in US unlike the variants spreading in the U.K. and South Africa. However they said there is a probability that many new variants might be spreading across the globe.

According to the report, the task force confirmed that there is a current increase in the cases with a double rate as per seen in the spring and summer seasons. Based on a seven-day average calculated by CNBC using Johns Hopkins University data, everyday in the U.S at least 228,400 new Covid-19 cases are recorded and the death rate tolls to 2,760. On Thursday U.S. has witnessed one of its horrific day with a record death rate of 4,000.

As per the report, we need a much more assertive response in order to the suppress the rate of aggressive spread of the virus. We need to increase more the Use of face masks and immediate vaccination shot must be introduced to as many people we can as a part of the response. To control the exaggerated spread of the variant we need a proper implementation of potent face masks (two or three ply and well-fitting) with more effectiveness and social distancing must be strictly followed against this epidemic as it can worsen the current situation.

Jason McDonald, a spokesman for the CDC, said in an email to CNBC,” there is a very high possibility that across the globe there are many variants emerging at the same time.” In addition to that he said there is a very “strong possibility” that there are new variant in the U.S. but it could have evolved weeks or months before it was identified particularly by the officials that is “igniting the surge in the United States similar to the surge in the United Kingdom.”

“From the beginning, as the pandemic emerged a group of researchers have been analyzing the U.S. strain and collected nearly 5,700 samples in November and December”, he said. Till date none of the researchers and analysts at CDC have witnessed the exposure of a particular variant in the United States as we have seen in the case of B.1.1.7 in the United Kingdom or B.1.351 in South Africa with the emergence of new strain.

The representatives of the department of Health and Human Services did not returned the comment requests of CNBC.

The report provided some details about the new US strain, including how long it has been going on. In recent weeks, the US has steadily increased its genomic sequences to undertake and identify other strains.

The Former Commissioner of Food and Drug Administration Dr. Scott Gottlieb told CNBC on Friday that the new strain that the White House task force has found appears to have bustling behavior like the one which is emerging in the United Kingdom.

He said to the “Closing Bell”, the new strain which is identified is not the same as the U.K. one which is known as B.1.1.7, to which he added, “If was the one we would have recognized that because we are looking for it and we know it.”

U.K. STRAIN IN SEVERAL STATE

Public health officials are concerned about the new strain of the virus which is spreading in Britain. In the U.S. CDC has recognized about 52 Covid-19 cases with B.1.1.7 mutations which is similar with the U.K. strain as updated in the data posted on the agency’s website on Thursday. Moreover, the CDC raised concern saying that they are just numbers and it does not indicates the total number of B.1.1.7 pedigree cases that may have been transmitted in the United States” and it is not confirmed that the figures will match provided by the local officials.

Till now according to the reports provided by the CDC only the states like California, Florida, New York, Colorado and Georgia has reported the cases of the B.1.1.7 variant but the other states such as Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Texas declared the outbreak of the new strain in their states on Thursday.

Andrew Cuomo of the New York government notified on Thursday that if it continued to spread uncontrollably and it may weaken the state hospitality and the new U.K. variant could lead the state into another economic shutdown.

VACCINES ‘IN ARMS NOW’

According to the task force’s report released by this weekend, the officials urged to the states that there should be immediate release of the vaccine for those 65 and the others who are near to the threat of some severe disease.

The task force has said that none of the vaccines should be put in the freezers instead, with an immediate action it should be introduced to the people as only this active immunization can now save lives against this deadly virus.

Michael Osterholm, who is a member of Biden’s Covid-19 advisory board, on Tuesday addressed that the U.S. will possibly observe more new variants of the emerging virus.

In an interview with CNBC Osterholm, an epidemiologist and director of the Center for Infectious Diseases Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota said that the new variant discovered in the U.K. “is a very big concern.”
